Thomas E. Payne

Sovereign Grand Inspector General

A personal note of Tom on the condition of his wife Kay.

Greetings to all,

First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to lift Kay and I up in your prayers, to those of you who sent cards and who called to express concerns.

Kay is much improved and is able to move about on her own, to dress herself and to get up by herself.  There is still somewhat of a hitch in her get along, but she is improving daily and is now beginning to climb stairs, albeit rather slowly. We caught it just in time. The doctor has released her until an appointment May 7th.  It seems that the infusions that she took over a five day period will stay in her system for about two weeks, thereby sustaining the treatment.

The doctors and home health care professionals have been wonderful and my faith in the medical profession has been restored.  Her neurologist has been by twice to check up on her, once even bringing his wife (a GYN) and his three sons.  They, as well as the initial doctor, all live in the neighborhood.  If she continues to improve, we will probably make the Scottish Rite trip to Seattle next week, but will not be in Santa Fe for the Regional Reunion this weekend.  It's just too soon for me to leave her alone.  She will miss not being there as will I, but this is where we will stay for a while.

We will be back in Roswell later this week if she can travel okay, but we aren't going to rush it.  Her improvement has been rather phenomenal and we give God the glory, knowing in whom to put our trust.  There have been prayers for her all over the world, streching from the U.S. to Africa, even to a Greek Orthodox priest in Mass. and we have been enveloped in prayer and that has sustained us and strengthened us.  Please continue to pray for her complete recovery.

Thank you and God Bless,

Tom

Language Learning Centers

It is exciting to report to you the process of establishing several more Dyslexic Learning Centers in New Mexico. There are currently two centers operational, the first being in the Scottish Rite Temple in Las Cruces, and the second in Partnership with Mesa Lodge 68, in Albuquerque.

Thanks to the generosity of Duane an Mary Ann Walker in their gift to the New Mexico Scottish Rite Foundation we are in the process collaborating with several Masonic Lodges for the establishing of Learning Centers in their Buildings. The Scottish Rite Supreme Council has perfected this learning program in the "Rite Care Program" and we using this program by educating our qualified teachers through in the Rite Care Program and then establishing them in our communities in Partnership with Masonic Lodges. Tom Payne recognized the we as Scottish Rite Masons by ourselves, could not provide children this opportunity to correct this deficiency and has elected to collaborate with the Grand Lodge of New Mexico and our Blue Lodges in making this Dyslexic Learning available in local communities across New Mexico.

Here is a complete link to the Rite Care Program and our Learning Centers.
